Poland Circular Gap Report
Innowo, Circle Economy and Natural State are analysing Poland's state of circularity to drive the country's circular transition. The project is funded by the EEA and Norway Grants program.
The Polish Research Institute Innowo has joined forces with Amsterdam based impact organisation Circle Economy and Natural State to measure the state of circularity in Poland. The analysis, funded by the EEA and Norway Grants program, will deliver tailored recommendations for a circular economy in Poland and inspire stakeholders from businesses, governments, academia and civil society to steer the country's transition. The analysis will also connect Polish and Norwegian circular opportunities.
In 2020 Natural State founded Circularities together with Cathrine Barth with a mission to accelerate the Nordic circular transition. Since then we have worked with companies like Posten Norge, Virke and Nordic Innovation, as well as lead the development of the Nordic Circular Hotspot. In addition, Barth is one of the initiators behind the Circular Gap Report Norway. We are truly honoured to now being able to use our experience to help Poland drive their circular transition.
Poland, like many countries around the world, recognises the circular economy as a means to meet emission targets, improve living conditions and make the economy more competitive. Circle economy is also an answer to challenging geopolitical times, as its business innovation and reuse of materials make supply lines and value chains more resilient and flexible.
While the why of the circular economy is clear, the how remains a big challenge. Innowo, Natural State and Circle Economy will shed light on Poland's resource reality by using Circle Economy’s method for analysing material flows in national economies. This will give insight on the flow of materials in the Polish economy and identify the biggest potential for improvements in resource efficiency and in making the economy more circular. Understanding how circular Poland is today is necessary for identifying opportunities for the future. A Circular economy has at its core “business innovation” – which creates new jobs, services and industries, enabling increased living standards and tax income. The project will connect stakeholders in Poland and Norway, initiate industry and business opportunities and connect Polish-Norwegian markets for circular economic solutions.
