Budor in Development

Budor is a unique destination, easily accessible from several large citys, located between the forest and the mountain. Budor is already a well-established winter destination, but has great potential to have more visitors all four seasons. Natural State is suggesting a careful development with focus on identity and adding new functions and activities based on local values.

Background

Budor is a small holiday destination owned and operated by landowner Løiten Almenning. Located only 1,5 hour from Oslo and 1 hour from Gardermoen Airport, Budor is an attractive cabin area surrounded by nature reserves. Here you can find Norway's finest ski slopes and a family friendly ski facility. Spring, summer and autumn, the same trails can be used for walks in beautiful plateau landscapes. Bring your family or friends to go hiking, biking, running, harvest mushrooms and berries, camp, swim in the river or just to enjoy the tranquility of the Budor forest.

Budor is a well-established winter destination, but has great potential to have more visitors all four seasons. In 2021 Natural State was hired to assist Løiten Almenning in the process of building a sustainable and quality oriented destination with unique functions and activities all year around.

Development

Together we have defined the Budor identity based on the uniqueness of the destination; its location, history, citizens, visitors, nature and local values. The goal is to build a destination that preserves local values and interests, which is why stakeholder participation and involvement is at the very core of the development process.

Since summer 2021 we have interviewed all the local stakeholders, including the Løiten municipality, local businesses, farmers, cabin owners and visitors. During the Winter Holiday of 2022 we hosted a GrendeLab (VillageLab) at Budor Skianlegg (Ski Facility), where anyone could come by to learn more about the development and share their wishes. During Spring 2022 Natural State will wrap up the process with a 10 year development strategy, based on the conversations, our research and the development made so far.
