Norwegian Icons is an initiative started by Fuglen in 2013 with a desire to highlight Norwegian interior design from 1940 to 1975. The goal was to increase global knowledge about Norway's contribution to the Mid-Century Scandinavian design movement, as well as promote the work of modern Norwegian manufacturers. Since the first exhibition in 2013, Norwegian Icons has told the story of Norwegian design through a series of exhibitions in Oslo, London, Milan, Tokyo and New York.
Over time, the project evolved into a design agency, distributing Norwegian vintage furniture and concepts for sustainable interior design. Norwegian Icons has delivered concepts and furniture to projects such as Vingen Bar, MESH, Mikeller, UA Bar, ØL Tokyo, Bar Zingaro and Gamlebyen Loft. In Japan, Norwegian Icons also distribute reproduced vintage furniture designs, as well as new designs from contemporary Norwegian designers (the new Norwegian Icons).
